Job Description Job Description Maintenance Mechanic Overview The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, and mechanical systems. This position reports directly to the Mechanical Supervisor. Key Responsibilities and Duties Ensure all repairs and calibrations are in compliance with all company and industrial regulations, policies, and procedures. Inspect, operate, or test equipment. Work with the Maintenance Planner to schedule and complete preventive maintenance on equipment. Assemble, install, or repair pipe & plumbing systems. Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments. Monitor parts inventory levels and communicate any issues to the Maintenance Planner. Enter & complete work orders in the system. Assist with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. Identify potential safety issues and make recommendations for action or resolution. Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop. Aid in Emergency Response (HAZMAT, Confined Space Rescue, and First Aid) Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience 18 years of age High School Diploma or GED 2 years of apprenticeship, vocational, experience, or education preferred. Industrial, Explosive, or chemical manufacturing experience preferred. Skills and Knowledge Ability to effectively communicate with various departments and team members. Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry up to 50Ibs, and work at heights. Ability to use various hand & power tools. Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs. Ability to work overtime as needed, including holidays and weekends. Familiar with CMMS software and other required applications. Possess basic Microsoft Word & Excel skills. Possess basic math skills. Possess reading and comprehension skills. Work Environment This position will be exposed to all elements of the weather on the plant site. This is a safety sensitive position which requires employees to disclose the use of any prescription medications that may affect the Employee's ability to perform safely the essential functions of his or her position to Human Resources.
