Job Description:
New Opportunity Mechanical Engineering SME NES Fircroft is
actively seeking a senior-level Mechanical Engineer for our client,
a global Mining and Minerals Processing Organization, for their
expanding facilities in Spruce Pine, North Carolina!  This
position will be a full-time contract to hire opportunity with our
client. For this position, we are looking for a Mechanical
Engineering Subject Matter Expert coming from an industrial
background in Mining, Oil/Gas, Specialty Chemical Manufacturing, or
a related Industry. Candidates will be expected to provide
high-level Structural, Mechanical, and Piping engineering & design
support for our client's expanding business units and capital

their availability.  Job Summary: Accountable for providing
structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) engineering and design
support in both High Purity Quartz and Glass Recycling Americas.
Designs shall be safe, operable, economical, and environmentally
sound. The candidate will provide technical guidance for
troubleshooting and problem solving when issues arise with
technical designs during engineering, construction, and start-up.
Responsible for strategic development of programs and initiatives,
which improve long-term improvement in facilities, infrastructure,
and project delivery as these relate to SMP. Â Responsibilities: Â
• Provide discipline design expertise directly and through
oversight of third-party contractors during  front-end development
to assure SMP designs achieve project objectives & client site
expectations, Â when influence is highest. Â • Provide guidance and
oversight during detailed design, construction, and start-up
activities. Â • SMP subject matter reviewer of project estimates,
project schedules, project design basis, Â engineering
deliverables, and contractor selections during front-end loading
and execution. Â • Develops, reviews, and maintains SMP regional
design, procurement, and construction requirements. Â • Ensures
design and construction comply with local, regional, national and
Sibelco standards. Â • Provide quality surveillance plans for
fabricated equipment construction. Â • Identify opportunities for
continuous improvement and development of proven solutions that
improve  the eUiciency, quality, and speed of the discipline
design process. Â • Collaborate routinely with engineering and
design teams from other regions to share learnings, Â standard
designs, and to develop a unified approach to deliver engineering.
 • Assess readiness level of the SMP activities and deliverables
at formal project gates. Â • Execute and or support SMP safety
incident reviews and root cause analysis as required. Â • Own the
technical content in the SMP technical standards. Â Qualifications:
 • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering  • 15 years of
experience in the Mining/Minerals/Metals, Refining, Chemicals,
Pharma/Biotech, or  similar industrial with progressive
demonstration of delivering the SMP function on projects. Â •
Preferred experience is a balance of time in oUice as well as
field. Â • Expert in reading, developing, and maintaining SMP
critical documentation such as P&IDs, equipment  datasheets,
plot plans, arrangement drawings, piping design, 3D models, lists
(equipment, line, and  specialty) etc., including development of
advanced construction work packaging. Â • Demonstrated experience
in developing equipment datasheets, specifications, preparing RFQ Â
packages, reviewing technical bid evaluations, reviewing vendor
supplied design documents - such  as fabrication drawings and
calculations for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, Â
calciners, crystallizers, centrifuges, and solids and dust handling
equipment, such as hoppers, Â calciners, kilns, conveyers, sorters,
dryers, crushers, baghouses, etc. Â • Familiarity with common
discipline design software and/or calculation and analysis tools
(Pressure  vessel design, pipe stress analysis, storage tank
design, pump sizing/selection, civil structural stress  analysis).
 • Knowledge of the latest applicable codes, regulations, and best
practices related to SMP design, Â fabrication, and construction
including but not limited to: ISO, API, ASME, NBIC, AWS, NACE,
NFPA, Â PIP, OSHA, MSHA, and NEC Â • Excellent Computer skills -
Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Outlook, and SharePoint. Â • Ability to
travel 25% routinely and up to 50% depending on current location. Â
• Preference for position to be located in Spruce Pine N.C. Â
