This position requires an organized, self-driven individual with a passion for safety. We value our customers and our employees, and our reputation for delivering quality work has been built for four generations of family leadership covering over nine decades.Position Requirements Safety Director/Coordinator Responsibilities include the following:Ensure companywide OSHA compliance IAW 1926 construction and 1910 general industry.Conduct safety audits and inspections to determine if safe work behaviors and working conditions are being observed.Ensure required OSHA program policies and procedures are established, maintained, and up to date including Confined Space, Lock out Tag Out, Hazcom, First Aid, etc.Conduct / host safety meetings with carious departments, division, crews, subcontractors, or company wide.Provide safety oversite for all heavy equipment, company vehicles and other various tools and equipment.Conduct and / or coordinate various safety training for employees which includes but not limited to: CPR, and First Aid, OSHA 10/30, MSHA training, defensive driver training, explosive handler, traffic control technician / supervisor, etc.Conduct competent person level training on a variety of subjects including forklift, various types of heavy equipment, fall protection, excavation and trenching, etc.Complete safety pre-qualifications from customers, owners, and general contractors.Make available all necessary personal protective equipment, job safety, material and first aid equipment.Prepare and maintain safety training records, certifications and qualifications.Conduct accident investigations to determine root cause and complete necessary documentation.Monitor Federal Motor Carrier laws and regulations, monitor driver qualification files, spot check driver pre/post trip inspections and other safety regulated aspects of the DOT program.Manage the 811 Call Before you Dig Program for all construction sites.At least five years of direct construction safety experience is required. Designations such as CHST, STS, ASP, CSP are preferred. OSHA 500 outreach training status is recommended. The safety director must have a great understanding of 29 CFR 1910 OSHA regulations for our plants and facilities, along with 29 CFR 1926 Construction OSHA regulations for our construction activities. The ability to teach First Aid/ CPR is a plus. National Flagger Instructor is a plus.Some travel is required.
