Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Vice President of Accounting and
Administration will be primarily responsible for overseeing the
general accounting and financial reporting functions, including
accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as oversee the
payroll/benefits/human resource function, and will function as the
information systems administrator. The position includes
responsibility for income and property taxes, as well as
interacting with departmental leads during the budgeting process.
The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a system of
internal controls that will ensure that company assets are
adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared
in compliance with applicable accounting policies, including real
estate development and construction industry standards and US GAAP
where applicable.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Vice President of Accounting
and Administration holds responsibility for management of the
accounting team performing the daily accounting/cash operations of
several divisions, including property management, construction,
real estate brokerage, and corporate entities. The position
includes reviewing monthly financial statements for all divisions
of the company and presenting monthly financial results. The
position will also be responsible for working with external
auditors and tax preparers, as well as the preparation of reports
on the company's financial status to be distributed to
shareholders, creditors and/or other interested parties. Additional
responsibilities include the following:Accounting
ResponsibilitiesOversee the general accounting function, which
includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation,
financial reporting, balance sheet management and distribution
management.Responsible for proper timing and application of revenue
recognition rules for construction entity.Assist Development
Managers in tracking all project costs during the predevelopment
stage.Oversee the monthly construction draw submissions for all
projects under construction to the lenders.Ensuring policies and
procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable
assurance that the company assets are protected.Provides technical
accounting guidance and support. At times, this may include
involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding
acquisitions/dispositions.Supervises the completion of Federal and
state tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales
and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and
other reports required by government regulation. Also, assists
Senior Management with dealing with tax related issues and meeting
reporting requirements.Coordinates work relating to external
audits/reviews in the periodic review of the company financial
records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed
upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting
from the audit/review findings.Responsible for direct management
and continued development of accounting staff.Monitor and ensure
timely repayment of intercompany and property-level payables.Is
responsible for ensuring that credit risk is balanced with business
objectives, targets are met and that only valid invoices with
proper management authorization are paid.Human Resource
ManagementEnsure legally compliant human resource policies,
procedures and best practices.Daily management of the payroll,
benefits and human resource functions and staff, including the
management of the annual performance review and salary/bonus
evaluation process.Oversight of the administrative office staff,
including receptionists and executive assistants.As staffing needs
arise, ensures that the accounting department is staffed with
qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and
responsibilities, noted above.Systems Administration &
ITResponsible for overall management of IT needs to achieve
technology and security objectives.Oversee the planning,
development, implantation, maintenance and security of company
information systems and data in partnership with outside IT
consultant.Administer and monitor accounting software, provide
recommendations for improvement and, as applicable, work with user
groups to implement changes/upgrades.Serve as executive sponsor of
the construction management online tool ProCore.Manage online
storage tool, Box.Administer purchasing card program, including
annual renewal, overall limit management, individual spending limit
management, fraud claims, etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's or
Master's degree in Accounting with eight (8) or more years of
experience leading the accounting function in the real estate
development, construction and property management industriesCPA
designation preferredExcellent written and verbal communication
skills are requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel,
Word, OutlookProficiency of Yardi/SageSUCCESFUL CANDIDATES WILL
