Grants and Foundation ManagerAbout Appalachia Service Project (ASP)Appalachia Service Project, Inc. (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that fosters human development by addressing housing needs in Central Appalachia. ASP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Using the skills and efforts of thousands of volunteers, ASP provides home repair and replacement to low-income households in Central Appalachia. ASP staff have a personal commitment to Christian faith and service to others. In a spirit of Christian love and service, ASP accepts people right where they are, just the way they are. Position OverviewThe Grants and Foundation Manager will report to and work in close collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). Under the direction of the CAO, the Grants and Foundation Manager is responsible for maintaining and increasing funding from current and prospective corporate, private, church, and government foundations through identification, cultivation and solicitation. The focus of this position will be to maintain and deepen relationships with new and existing foundations, and to articulate our mission, vision and strategy in support of our goals. The Grants and Foundations Manager provides overall support, research, implementation and management of the Grants strategies. The Manager will work closely with the CAO as well as the CEO, the Advancement team, and the Ministries (program) team in identifying grants and foundation and other sources of funding to apply for support of ASP's work. The manager will serve as the lead researcher, grant writer, and will manage the process from start to finish. This position will also ensure effective and timely submission of grants, follow-up the grantor, and manage the metrics, success and expected outcomes for grants awarded. This includes reports that are to be submitted as well as data compiled in collaboration with other departments, community partners or other external sources. Responsibilities--------------Write grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, government agencies, churches and other funding sources as determined by the Executive Leadership Team, grants database, calendar, and grant reporting requirements. --------------Manage a robust grants calendar across multiple program areas, initiative and needs for the organization. --------------Work directly with the Ministries department to understand the needs of each program and creating grant compliance teams for grants involving the Ministries and Accounting department. --------------Develop and steward relationships with our current and prospective Grantors to meet our mutually beneficial needs. --------------Ensure proper and effective management, successful implementation, metrics, and results are carried out for each grant received, collaborating with the necessary departments to ensure timely reporting, and summaries. --------------Conduct comprehensive research and 'mining' of prospects, foundations and corporations to meet new program and capital funding needs. --------------Collect and summarize program and budget results, submit to Grantors on time. --------------Manage a small portfolio of individual donors/partners.--------------Other duties as assigned Key CompetenciesBachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. 3-5 years successful experience in grant research and writing or commensurate experience.Excellent social skills including the ability to relate in a positive manner with all cultures and socio-economic audiences.Adheres to the highest ethical standards, reflects an optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to--the--needs of donors, staff, partners and volunteers.Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
