Hours: PRN daytime & evening call | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Radiologist, performs ultrasound scans at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology training program that is AMA approved and meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or its equivalent. Experience: At least one year experience of Ultrasound experience is preferred, but a less experienced applicant would be considered. License/Certifications: Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is preferred. CPR certification. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serves all patients referred to the Ultrasound department for examination in a timely manner. Maintains ultrasound room in an orderly manner. Must be able to maintain the scanning equipment in optimal working order, as specified by manufacturer. Must be able to capture the most optimal images on film and other media. Able to correctly position patient and selects correct probe for given procedure. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required. Performs a variety of technical skills that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ultrasound waves for imaging and diagnosis. Must have a willingness to cross train and spend time in the study of Sonography essentials. Understands how to use Meditech system and completes all requirements to assure exams are correctly ordered and moved to the Taken Status. Submits all required sequences per exam protocol and sends completed study to the Radiologist. Knowledge of PACS system and how to operate make appropriate changes prior to sending to the Radiologist, and make CDs. Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
