Carolina nursing jobs / Hickory healthcare - Assignment Length: 13
weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026) - Role: Medical/Surgical
Nurse / Med/Surg RN / Travel Nurse - Setting: Post-surgical
Medical/Surgical Unit (18 beds) - Shift: 12-hour days (07:00 –
19:00), 36 hours per week - Weekend Requirement: Every other
weekend (travel nurse schedule) - Orientation: Twice monthly -
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,590 - $1,680 per week Required
Qualifications - Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid
compact RN license - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA
preferred) - Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg nursing experience (2
years preferred) - Experience with Cerner electronic health record
(Cerner EHR) required - IV competency and experience with IV
therapy and infusion pumps - Associate or Bachelor of Science in
Nursing (ADN/BSN) Key Responsibilities - Provide direct patient
care for adult and geriatric patients on a busy post-surgical
Med/Surg unit - Manage a typical patient assignment ratio of 1:6
while prioritizing safe, evidence-based care - Administer
medications, monitor vital signs, and perform wound care and
dressing changes - Operate and troubleshoot equipment including
Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA
pumps - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, PT,
OT, case management) to develop individualized care plans - Float
as needed to surgical, neuro, or intermediate care units to support
Med/Surg level patients - Document all assessments, interventions,
and patient education in the Cerner EHR system - Care for a variety
of diagnoses including post-orthopedic surgery, COPD exacerbation,
GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound infections, pancreatitis,
sickle cell crisis, sepsis, and end-of-life care - Demonstrate
strong teamwork, patient advocacy, and time management in a
