Job Description:

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is accepting online applications for the position of Part-Time Program Coordinator with the Senior Services division of Parks & Recreation to work 26 hours per week. The employee performs intermediate paraprofessional work coordinating all aspects of planning and implementation of hiking and sports programs for senior adults; does related work as required. Work in this class may also involve planning, organizing and implementing other recreation programs of various types at the Senior Center or other assigned locations. Administrative responsibilities include scheduling and supervising events; use of computer software; and other duties as assigned.

Requirement for Education and Experience: completion of high school or GED, preferably supplemented by college level course work in physical education, recreation or other social sciences and four 4 years of experience in team or group organized recreation activities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Extensive knowledge of hiking and experience in coordinating hiking programs. Employee must work well with the public, especially senior adults and volunteers. Possession of a Class C CDL with P endorsement driver's license issued by the state of Tennessee is preferred. CPR and First Aid certification is required. Pre-employment physical and drug screening required.
