Summers-Taylor, Inc. is seeking a Plant Safety Technician to manage
all aspects of the safety program at Summers-Taylor's asphalt and
concrete plants. This is a full-time position. This job will
primarily be in the Tri-Cities, TN, with the exception of
occasional travel.Plant Safety Technician Responsibilities include
- Conduct general industry safety inspections for all facilities
including concrete & asphalt plants, mechanic shops and other
Summers-Taylor Inc. facilities to determine if safe work behaviors
are being observed in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Assist the Safety Manager in revising existing and develop new
safety policies and procedures.
- Make available all necessary personal protective equipment, job
safety material and first aid equipment.
- Assist with the vehicle incident investigation process to
ensure thorough investigations, provide resolutions, issue reports,
and assist with the fleet vehicle accident logs.
- Establish and ensure applicable employee trainings have been
completed for employees. At times, he/she may be required to
deliver said training to facility personnel and/or coordinate
training with client/jobsite needs and expectations.
- Assist the Safety Manager in maintaining our Department of
Transportation (DOT) program for all commercial vehicles.
- Monitor, conduct, and schedule daily/weekly safety meetings for
all locations of Summers-Taylor plants and facilities.
- Attend and pass professional training such as CPR Instructor
Course and National Flagger Instructor Course, OSHA 511 & 501.

- Valid driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ethical Conduct
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Will be required to complete OSHA 30, OSHA 510
- Prefer Associate Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety
sciences or minimum of 2 years' experience in an Environmental,
Health and Safety position.
- Technical writing aplus.
